Privacy Policy
This policy explains what CozDate collects, why, who it is shared with and what happens to it. It covers the CozDate app and this website.
1. What we collect
- Account details — your email address and password (stored only as a cryptographic hash), and confirmation that you are 18 or over.
- Your profile — name, photos, bio, answers to profile prompts, gender, who you want to meet, interests and your approximate location, which we use to show you to people and people to you.
- What you send — chat messages, Blind Messages and Blind Voice recordings, icebreaker answers and the likes and matches you make.
- Calls — voice and video calls are connected through our calling provider. Calls are never recorded.
- Purchases — coins and subscriptions bought through Apple or Google. We never see your card details.
- Safety records — reports you file or that are filed about you, blocks, photo reviews and moderation decisions.
- Technical data — IP address, device and request information, used to run the service and to prevent fraud and spam.
We do not sell your personal data and do not use it for advertising profiling.
2. Why we use it
- To provide CozDate — matching, chat, calls and translation (performance of our contract with you).
- To keep people safe — reviewing photos, handling reports, detecting spam and fake profiles (legitimate interest; legal obligation).
- To take payments — contract, and accounting and tax law.
3. Translation and AI features
When you translate a message, or use writing help for your bio, prompts, icebreakers or chats, the text involved is sent to our AI provider to produce the result. It is not used to build advertising profiles. [CONFIRM the provider's data-retention terms]
4. Who we share it with
Only with the providers that run CozDate, each acting on our instructions:
- Replit — application hosting;
- Neon — database;
- Cloudflare — storage of photos and voice messages (R2), and this website;
- Agora — voice and video calls;
- OpenAI — translation and AI writing features;
- Apple and Google — in-app purchases and subscriptions.
Other members see what is on your profile. We also share data where the law requires it.
5. How long we keep it
- Blind Messages, Blind Voice recordings and their replies are deleted after 15 days.
- Your profile and chats are kept while your account exists.
- Payment records are kept for the period accounting law requires, [RETENTION PERIOD].
6. Deleting your account
You can delete your account in the app under Settings → Danger Zone → Delete account. Your profile, photos, messages, voice messages and matches are deleted. Payment records and moderation records are kept without anything that identifies you. Details: Delete your account.
7. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you can ask to access, correct, delete or receive a copy of your data, and object to how it is used. Write to [email protected]; we answer within one month. You can also complain to your data protection authority.
8. Children
CozDate is for adults only. If you believe someone under 18 has an account, write to [email protected] and we will close it.
